Inspired by an article from Rest of World discussing the most common languages on the internet. A study found that of all accessible web addresses, over half are in English, with the closest runner-up languages coming in at under 10% each. Here, I was thinking about development and how children are quicker to learn what they’re exposed to the most. The ubiquity of English on the internet seems to me like part of a self-fulfilling prophecy that encourages more English (percentage-wise) on the internet, although that may change as time goes on.
